GloRilla was reportedly arrested in Georgia on Tuesday on drug charges. TMZ reported that the rapper, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was booked in Forsyth County (about an hour north of Atlanta) for possession of marijuana over one ounce and possession of a scheduled controlled substance. Both charges are felony offenses in Georgia. Police sources told TMZ that Woods was released from custody after paying a $22,000 bond.
According to a police statement given to People, the arrest stemmed from police responding to calls about a break-in at Woods’s home. “It was reported that three suspects had entered the home and were in the process of stealing items when an armed occupant fired at the intruders,” the statement read. The suspects fled the scene, seemingly uninjured, and have yet to be caught. Woods was in Indianapolis for the WNBA All-Star Game at the time.
“While on scene, deputies detected a strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics. As a result, the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force was contacted and responded to the residence,” police said. At that point, “a significant amount of marijuana” was reportedly discovered in the closet of Woods’s primary bedroom. Woods voluntarily turned herself in upon returning to Georgia.
On Thursday, Woods responded to the arrest in a post on X. “My House got Home Invaded Saturday While I was in Indianapolis performing for the WNBA all star game & instead of Focusing on finding the Suspects , they focus on some cannabis,” she wrote. “1. So no I wasn’t busted 2. My house got robbed 3. I wasn’t home Long story short my house gets home invaded and Im the only one that gets arrested. So that’s tea.”

“The arrest of Gloria Woods is a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become,” Woods’s lawyers, Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling, said in a statement to Vibe. “Ms. Woods was out of town when her residence became a target for a group of home invaders who most likely knew she wasn’t there. What they didn’t know was that she had family staying with her that were traumatized by the violent entrance of this group who grabbed high value jewelry before taking off once they realized the home wasn’t vacant.”
The arrest comes amid GloRilla’s first headlining tour, which she’s currently set to cap off with a special show in her hometown of Memphis this Friday. As of right now, the show, which she’s calling the 1st Annual Glo Bash, is scheduled to go on as planned.
The Cut has reached out to representatives for GloRilla and will update this post when we hear back.
