Training season really is over. After months of speculation, Dua Lipa has confirmed that she and actor Callum Turner are engaged. When asked about the suspiciously placed rock she’s been wearing on her ring finger since December, the pop star told British Vogue, “Yeah, we’re engaged.” She added, “It’s very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever — it’s a really special feeling.”
Lipa, who hard-launched her relationship with Turner at the Glastonbury Festival in July 2024, clarified that they met for the first time at the the River Cafe in London. She was having dinner with her father when the restaurant’s co-founder, Ruth Rogers, introduced them. One year later, “that really hot guy from the River Cafe” bumped into her at a restaurant in Los Angeles. They were both reading Hernan Diaz’s novel Trust. That’s how she knew they were “one thousand percent” destined to be together. Sounds like a romance novel she’d feature on Service95.

As for the ring? “I’m obsessed with it. It’s so me,” Lipa said, adding, “It’s nice to know the person that you’re going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well.” But don’t hold your breath for a pop-star-ified wedding anytime soon. Lipa wants to finish up her Radical Optimism tour, and Turner is apparently tied up with a project at the moment, so the couple are “just enjoying this period.” Perhaps they’ll celebrate making their engagement public by hosting a fiancées-only book club. Might I suggest some Emily Henry for its first installment?
