Michael Pitt has been arrested on sexual abuse charges, court records viewed by the Cut indicate. The actor, known for his roles on Boardwalk Empire and Dawson’s Creek, was arrested Friday on charges relating to multiple incidents that allegedly date back to April 2020.
According to the indictment against him, Pitt is accused of sexually assaulting the alleged victim several times. He also allegedly attacked her multiple times, including with a cinderblock and a wooden plank, and, at one point, strangled her. Per the New York Post, the victim was Pitt’s then-girlfriend and the assaults allegedly took place in their home in Bushwick.
Pitt pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail. He’s expected to make his next court appearance on June 17. An attorney representing the actor told the Cut they “look forward to proving his innocence” and slammed the allegations against him as “the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual.”

This isn’t Pitt’s first run-in with the law. Per the New York Daily News, he was charged with assault and petty larceny in July 2022 after allegedly hitting a man and taking his phone. Two months later, he was reportedly hospitalized after being accused of throwing objects at people from a rooftop.
