Monica Lewinsky collaborated with Flamingo Estate on a candle for National Bullying Prevention Month.
What does anti-bullying smell like? According to Monica Lewinsky, it’s a garden full of camellias. Lewinsky, who has devoted the past decade of her career to being an anti-bullying activist, collaborated with Flamingo Estate (the same people behind the Pamela Anderson pickles) to create a special candle for National Bullying Prevention Month. In Vanity Fair, Lewinsky wrote about her journey to a campaign that “didn’t feel too earnest or treacly.” It turns out that she’s a candle lover; they have “always been something that help me ground and find my center — especially in tough times.”
All of the proceeds from the $75 candle are going to four anti-bullying organizations, which is great, of course — I hate bullying just as much as the next former theater kid. But the real question: Is the scent good?

Lewinsky shared that it has “white camellia, lemon, vanilla, and a little bit of clove for a fresh but spicy scent.” Flamingo Estate got a little more floral (sorry) with the language, describing it on its website as “an uplifting affair that feels like sticking our nose in the fresh bud of a flower — where subtle notes of fruit, cream, and musk take to air.” Not my ideal candle, but I respect that someone else might love a fruity, creamy, musky scent in their home.
Mostly, I respect Lewinsky’s commitment to being America’s top anti-bullying advocate. Most people could not make that stick, but she has managed to leverage it into a successful career as a podcaster, producer, and that one time she was a Reformation model. What will next National Bullying Prevention Month bring us? I would love an Erewhon smoothie collab.
