Despite all the reporting to the contrary, it turns out that men are still capable of making friends. In fact, this past weekend in Los Angeles, two young men with no previously documented hangouts reportedly got dinner at Soho House. Change is possible! If Benson Boone can score a friend date with Tom Holland, the sky’s the limit.
According to TMZ, a friendship is blossoming between Boone and Holland. The Spider-Man actor was photographed walking into Soho House in West Hollywood on Friday, while the backflip-loving singer reportedly snuck in later. A source told TMZ that the two guys are “fans of each other’s work” and they are en route to “becoming good friends.”
Now, what could these two possibly be talking about? Well, they’re both brunette, which is usually enough for men, but they actually do have more than that for the foundation of their friendship. For one, they both appreciate showmanship: Boone has his flips, and we all remember Holland’s “Umbrella” lip sync. More seriously, both Holland and Boone stay away from alcohol. Holland has gone on the record as having “a bit of an issue” with booze, which has led him to sobriety and the launch of his nonalcoholic-beer brand, Bero. Boone, on the other hand, grew up Mormon, and despite leaving the church, he told Rolling Stone that because of his “addictive personality,” he hasn’t tried anything harder than coffee. “I just think for me personally, like, dude, I would die,” he told the magazine.

All of that is certainly enough fodder for one dinner. Plus, according to TMZ, they ran into Walton Goggins at the restaurant and Boone went over to say hi. That probably prompted at least seven minutes’ worth of White Lotus discussion, so suffice it to say, they had a lot to talk about. And you know what? Good for them. Less good for Zendaya, who just saw the odds of hearing a live rendition of “Beautiful Things” at her wedding skyrocket.
