Lisan al-Gaib. The Chosen One. One of the greats. Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. Timothée Chalamet’s talents in the fields of acting and viral marketing paid off when he accepted a Golden Globe for giving one of cinema’s great scoundrel performances as ping-pong whiz Marty Mauser in Marty Supreme. This is Chalamet’s first-ever Golden Globe, having been nominated for Call Me by Your Name, Beautiful Boy, Wonka, and last year’s A Complete Unknown. He used his acceptance speech as an opportunity to thank Josh Safdie, Ronald Bronstein, and his co-stars, including Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary saying, “If you would’ve told me when I was 19 years old that I’d be thanking Mr Wonderful.” He finished by saying, “To my parents and my partner, I love you, thank you so much.”

This win officially marks a streak for Chalamet, as just last week he beat out competition including Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael B. Jordan at the Critics Choice Awards. With the major guild awards and Oscar nominations on the horizon, Safdie fans want to know: Can he keep the rally going, or will he get spanked?
