Taylor Swift Wasn’t About to Miss an Easter Egg Opportunity

Taylor Swift has been lying relatively low since the Eras Tour ended. Yes, she went to the Grammys and the Super Bowl, but other than that the only time the Swifties can really catch a glimpse of their beloved is when she’s dashing from car to restaurant with Travis Kelce. Which is why they were so excited for her appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, where, in addition to her ten nominations, she was set to receive the award for Tour of the Century (on the two-year anniversary of the first Eras Tour show, no less).

And she did show up, sort of. Swift appeared via prerecorded video from an undisclosed location to accept her Tour of the Century trophy. “I’ve been doing a lot of processing since I’ve been off the road these last few months,” she said in the clip. “People often say that sometimes the greatest challenges in life end up being something you’re so proud of … this tour is absolutely the most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

Swift added that she couldn’t have tackled the Eras Tour without the support of her fans. Nice of her to give them a shout-out, considering they’d gone into the night expecting a major announcement on the scale of, say, an Eras Tour documentary or TS12. Instead, they got a special video of “Mirrorball” from the Eras Tour.

Also satiating the stans: To make up for her lack of physical presence, Swift offered a little crumb of clowning fodder by wearing a snake necklace. This sent Swifties into a complete frenzy because, obviously, it means that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is coming … at some point. When, exactly? That’s for her to know and for you to make TikToks about.

I don’t think Taylor is  done taking stealthy vacations with Kelce yet, so I wouldn’t expect anything at least until NFL preseason starts. Maybe we’ll get a few more not-so-subtle snake accessories before then.
