Things are looking rocky between Sydney Sweeney and her fiancé of three years, Jonathan Davino. After several weeks of breakup rumors, Us Weekly claims that the couple has called off their wedding, which was reportedly set to happen this spring. “Sydney and Jonathan have been having major issues but are not fully split,” a source told the tabloid on Wednesday.
“The wedding is not happening, and they aren’t having further discussions about it,” the source added. “Sydney wanted to cancel everything and couldn’t handle the stress.”
Sweeney and Davino began dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2022, per People. They’ve kept their relationship mostly private, but Us Weekly’s source claimed Sweeney’s “extremely busy” and public lifestyle has gotten in the way. “Sydney is really focused on her career … Jonathan wishes they were able to spend more quality time together,” the source noted, adding that Sweeney’s publicity campaigns have been especially “tough” for Davino.
“When she is promoting a movie … she has to give her full attention to the project, and people always speculate about their relationship and Sydney being close to her co-stars,” the source said.
The couple have been followed by breakup rumors for years — they first bubbled up in 2023, during Sweeney’s flirty press tour with her Anything But You co-star Glen Powell, and reignited this year when footage of her hanging out with her The Housemaid co-star Brandon Sklenar emerged. The rumors intensified this month when TMZ reported that Sweeney had been staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel alone since mid-February, while “Page Six” noted that the couple haven’t been photographed together since January (though Davino was spotted outside Sweeney’s L.A. home a couple weeks ago). A few noteworthy Instagram choices have also fueled speculation — Sweeney seems to have deleted a photo of her and Davino kissing from her profile, and on Wednesday, she posted an image from her African safari (sans Davino) with the caption, “Only up from here.”
The Cut has reached out to Sweeney’s reps for comment and will update this post if we hear back.
