Spencer Pratt Wants to Be the Mayor of Los Angeles

by thenowvibe_admin

In the newest chapter of the pop-culture villain-to-politician pipeline, Spencer Pratt has announced he’s running for mayor of Los Angeles. On Wednesday, the anniversary of the Palisades Fire that destroyed the Pratts’ family home and ravaged Greater Los Angeles County, the 42-year-old appeared at a “They Let Us Burn” rally, thrown by the Palisades Fire Residents Coalition, per ABC News. “Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m done waiting for someone to take real action,” the former star of The Hills said to the crowd. “That’s why I am running for mayor.”

“But let me be clear: This just isn’t a campaign,” he added. “This is a mission, and we are going to expose the system. We are going into every dark corner of L.A. politics and disinfecting the city with our light.”

Pratt will apparently campaign on his long-standing criticism of how authorities handled the wildfires, which he previously tackled in a lawsuit he filed against the city last year. During the rally, he wore a cap that read “Let It Burn, Gavin Newsom” and talked about incumbent mayor Karen Bass, whom he’s blamed in part for the losses caused by the Eaton and Palisades Fires.

Bass, however, does not seem to be taking Pratt and his crystal collection seriously. “It’s no shock that in advance of his imminent book release, a reality TV ‘villain’ who once staged a fake divorce to boost ratings and spent the last summer spewing post-fire misinformation and disinformation to pump up his social media following would now announce he’s running for Mayor,” Bass campaign spokesperson Douglas Herman said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.

I am in no way saying that I support Pratt for mayor, but I am impressed with the catchy slogans he’s managed to drum up — he told the crowd on Wednesday that “L.A. is going to be camera-ready again” and claimed “I got more water coming outta my eyes than DWP had in both of our reservoirs.” I wonder if Speidi will collab on a new pop single for the campaign?
