Now that the Wicked sequel is out, is Ariana Grande done with the role for good? When asked at the Critics Choice Awards on January 4 whether she plans to incorporate Glinda in her upcoming Eternal Sunshine tour, Grande didn’t immediately rule out the possibility. “We’ll have to see,” she told E! News. “I don’t know … we’ll see.” The 41-show tour, which is scheduled to kick off in June, will be Grande’s first time hitting the road to perform her music since the release of 2020’s Positions. Earlier this year, she indicated that it will likely be her last tour for a “long, long, long, long time.”
So how is it possible that she doesn’t already know if she is going to keep putting the “pop” in popular onstage? According to an “excited” and “grateful to work” Grande, the song selections for her Eternal Sunshine tour haven’t been finalized yet. “I’ve been working on the set list for months now,” she explained. “It’s in a good place, but we’ll never know until we get into the rehearsals — which are starting very soon — and we put things on their feet if it’ll make sense or not.” Will anyone mourn the Wicked if “No One Mourns the Wicked” doesn’t make the cut?
