Lately, it seems like Sabrina Carpenter is everywhere — at the VMAs making out with aliens, reenacting Thelma and Louise with Dolly Parton, and miming Parisian-inspired sex positions onstage. And now the 25-year-old has somehow infiltrated a video game.
Carpenter is the “headliner” for Fortnite Festival season eight, a “rhythm-based game that feels like Guitar Hero’s wild little cousin.” How this festival actually works is beyond me, but it sounds like you can now play Fortnite’s version of Rock Band using a few of Carpenter’s bops. You can also dress like her — this week, Fortnite released several Sabrina Carpenter “skins,” which basically just means you can make your in-game character look like the singer, blonde curtain bangs and all. (You’ll recognize a couple of her tour looks, including a cap-sleeved dress in her signature butter yellow and the pink sequined set she wears for “Juno.”) In a YouTube video announcing the rollout, Fortnite wrote, “That’s that she espresso: Sabrina Carpenter has arrived.”
You would think the Venn diagram of people who play Fortnite and Sabrina Carpenter stans would be small. But with the exception of a few creepy outliers, the Carpenter skins seem to be a huge hit. As far as I can tell, most people are using her little outfits to just vibe out together. In clips posted to X, the Sabrinas can be seen gathering for group choreography, doing body rolls in a circle at a digital replica of the Short n’ Sweet Tour stage, forming bands, and taking dance breaks in the middle of their gunfights. Fortnite (jokingly?) reported that “dance-related stalemates are on the rise” and shootouts are “all vibes now.”
Lest you were worried Carpenter wasn’t aware of what all her Fortnite mini-mes were up to, the singer has already given the Sabrina skin her nod of approval. “Me if u even care,” she captioned an Instagram Story sharing the news of its arrival. Straight from the pop star’s mouth: Make espresso, not war.
