The seventh season of Love Island USA will come to a close on Sunday, July 13. This season has been filled with twists, turns, racism allegations, misunderstandings of the word mommy, and many, many episodes you may not be caught up on yet. You could spend the next few days watching all 32 hourlong (sometimes longer!) episodes to get up to speed before the finale. (It seems like everyone else is — over 3.5 million people voted on the app in the last elimination episode.)
Or you could simply read on to find out what you really need to know to follow all the action this weekend.
Who are the Love Island USA finalists?
The remaining couples include Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen (better known as “Nicolandria”), Huda “Hurricane Huda” Mustafa and Chris Seeley, Amaya “Papaya” Espinal and Bryan Arenales, Chelley Bissainthe and Ace Greene, and Iris Kendall and Pepe Garcia-Gonzalez.

Yulissa has since spoken out about the situation on TikTok, both apologizing for her behavior and urging fans not to harass Cierra. “You can hold people accountable without destroying them,” she said.
@yulissaaescobar You can hold people accountable without destroying them. Sorry if I’m rambling.. #LoveIslandUSA #yulissa #lovergirl #LoveIsland #yulissaescobar #cierra #huda #austin #chelly #olandria
Cierra returned to the States this week and posted her own apology on Instagram last night.

“I want to first start by addressing not just anyone that I have hurt or deeply offended, but most importantly, the entire Asian community,” she said. “I am deeply, truly, honestly so sorry. I had no idea that the word held as much pain, as much harm, and came with the history that it did or I never would have used it.”
She noted that she has received death threats and that fans called ICE on her family. “I don’t think that’s justice,” she said. “And if you want to know that you are heard and that I’m sorry and that I will move differently, I promise you, that’s what will happen.”
The show has not addressed any of this directly.
Who is the most non-problematic person to root for?

A few episodes ago, Love Island viewers voted Espinal, a.k.a. Amaya Papaya, as the most genuine contestant on the show. She seems to be a real sweetie with a big influencing career ahead of her (Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty just followed her on Instagram). Amaya and Bryan “seem to have really good chemistry, and he defended her while the other guys came at her about her love language before he knew she was America’s favorite,” says Bush.
Last question: Where did that mamacita meme come from?
Quite simply, Nic did not understand what Huda meant when she tried to tell him she was a mom earlier in the season. Enjoy the full original clip below:
@loveislandusa Huda is mommy to her daughter… Mamacita to Nic. 👶 #LoveIslandUSA @hudabubbaaa @Nicolas Vansteenberghe
And see you at the finale.
