Like a supernova, Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s romance burst onto the scene with a white-hot intensity, and then basically disappeared. Back in January, the Broadway co-stars were both fresh off of their divorces and ready to debut their relationship. In the span of a week, they were papped walking hand in hand, making out at an In-N-Out, and strolling in their sweats. And then? Nothing. For nearly four months, these two have not made a peep, until today.
People published the proof-of-life shots of the couple doing their favorite activity: holding hands while taking a walk. This time, however, they were back in New York. In the photos, Foster is wearing a plain navy dress and some cute sunglasses, while Jackman has opted for laceless sneakers, some kind of pleated joggers, and a Global Citizen tote (it’s nice to know that he’s the kind of guy who does a panel and then actually uses the tote bag). This is all to say, they did a very good job of looking casual and normal for these People-exclusive photos.

So, what have they been up to during their quiet period? They’ve both been busy, actually. Jackman opened his Radio City residency, Hugh Jackman: From New York, With Love, in late January. Foster was there to support her man on opening night, as was his bestie Ryan Reynolds. Then, earlier this month, Foster headlined the New York Philharmonic’s Spring Gala. According to Us Weekly, Jackman couldn’t go to the actual show because it conflicted with his Off Broadway play schedule. (He’s currently starring in Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes alongside Annette Bening and Warren Beatty’s daughter, Ella Beatty.) Instead, he “attended a pre-performance rehearsal earlier on Tuesday, and the couple left the venue together.” Hubba hubba!
Hopefully, these two don’t disappear for another four months. I want to see them out and about a little more. Maybe a red-carpet moment at the Tonys or a pap walk in the Hamptons this summer … Is a Sound of Music revival too much to ask for?
