The Biebers have seen what TikTok has to say about their marriage, and they are not happy about it. On Tuesday, per TMZ, the couple’s attorney Evan Spiegel sent a cease-and-desist letter to psychology TikToker Julie Theis. The letter apparently claimed that Theis, who has posted a series of videos about the purported state of the Biebers’ marriage, made “outrageous false, fabricated, and defamatory” statements about the couple, including a “highly damaging” and “defamatory narrative” that Hailey and Justin are in an abusive relationship fueled by Justin’s alleged drug addiction.

In the letter, Spiegel demanded that Theis take down the videos she made about his clients and threatened further legal action if she did not comply. Spiegel referenced three videos Theis posted in December and January, though she’s been making psychology-inflected videos analyzing fictional and celebrity relationships, including the Biebers’, dating back to 2021.

Theis does not seem too concerned about this response. She confirmed that she’d received the notice on Wednesday on both Instagram and TikTok, where she has over 624,000 followers, and expressed zero interest in backing down. “Imagine having unlimited money and being this threatened by a woman with an opinion,” she wrote in the caption of her video about the letter. She claims her posts were “clearly opinion-based commentary about relationship dynamics and power” and told TMZ in a statement that she feels the Biebers are trying to silence her right to free speech via legal intimidation.
@julietheis Replying to @xoxo2345557 it’s cool when they do it, it’s a problem when I do it
“It’s extremely elitist to try to silence opinions just because you disagree,” she added. “Disagreement is not defamation.” Since receiving the letter, she’s continued to post about the Biebers, including a vacation video that says “GIRL WHATEVER” and “power struggles look funny from the beach” in the caption. Another selfie video filmed to the sound of a viral Tamra Judge soundbite reads, “POV: You have an inconvenient opinion so Hailey Bieber sends you a cease and desist.” Something tells me she’s not going to stop anytime soon.
