Six months after breaking up, Halle Bailey and her ex DDG are apparently going through custody pains. In a YouTube livestream, DDG, a YouTuber turned rapper, claims that Bailey is keeping him from seeing their 15-month-old son, Halo, adding that speaking publicly about the situation is “literally my last resort.”
“I don’t like putting y’all in my business, but I don’t know what else to do. But I know the internet moves people,” he said. “I just want to see my son, that’s it. I love being a dad and I want to be a dad, plain and simple.” He added that he does not want to take legal action against Bailey. “I don’t want to go to court,” he said. “It’s going to get extremely messy, and it don’t have to happen. I think it’s in her best interest to not want to go to court either, where we can just have a clear understanding.”
In addition to the livestream, DDG released a song titled “Don’t Take My Son” where he raps about the custody predicament. Bailey has not publicly responded to DDG’s claims, and a rep for the actress didn’t immediately respond to the Cut’s request for comment.
Bailey and DDG were first linked after being spotted at an Usher concert in January 2022. They welcomed Halo to the world in 2023 and hard-launched his birth on Instagram at the start of 2024. “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son,” Bailey wrote in her caption.
Then DDG announced their breakup last October on Instagram. “After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” the statement read. “Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other.”
This wouldn’t be the first time the parents have publicly disagreed about their son. Back in November, Bailey spoke out about DDG allowing Halo to be on YouTuber Kai Cenat’s livestream without her consent. In a now-deleted X post, Bailey wrote that she did not “approve of my baby being on a stream” at the time, according to People. “I wasn’t told or notified and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people,” she said. “I am his mother and protector and saddened that I wasn’t notified especially when I am out of town.” She walked back on her comments the following day, writing that she may have been overreacting and knows that “Halo is always safe with his dad.”
