You Can Make It So You See Cut Articles First in Google

by thenowvibe_admin

There have been a lot of changes to the Google algorithm recently. Surely you’ve noticed those AI Overviews that appear at the top of every result page. Well, now Google’s rolling out a new feature that will allow you to designate “Preferred Sources” so publications you know and trust (ahem) feature more prominently in “Top stories” and “News” placement and a dedicated “From your sources” section.

The “Top stories” hub appears when you search for something related to current events, so if you want to keep getting The Cut’s takes on the latest news in style, politics, culture, and more, this is how. You can also subscribe to never miss an article, of course.

Want to make sure you’re still seeing The Cut when you Google? Follow these easy steps.

1.

Click this link.

You’ll need to be signed in to your Google account to proceed.

2.

Tick the box next to “The Cut.”

3.

Do the same to see stories from our sibling publications, Curbed, Grub Street, Vulture, and New York Magazine.

There’s currently no limit on the number of preferred sources you can designate.

And that’s it! Next time you search a news event on Google, The Cut’s coverage will be right there.

Or you could also do it this way, if you’re so inclined:

1.

Do a Google search for a topic in the news.

“U.S. Open,” for example.

2.

Click on the icon to the right of “Top stories,” in that light-gray circle:

3.

From there, you can use the same technique as above to set preferred sources — by entering the publication name and ticking the box:

That way, when you search for the U.S. Open, you’ll be served links to The Cut’s coverage and not random sites like, say, Pro Football & Sports Network (?) or Yardbarker (??).

That’s all she wrote. If you’re reading this, you probably do prefer The Cut, so might as well make it Google-official.
