A moment of silence, please. After eight beautiful months filled with helicopter rides, visits to Vermont, and more helicopter rides, Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas have reportedly ended their romance. Apparently they want to keep things friendly and professional, so they will only be taking the chopper platonically moving forward.
The news of their split was first reported in The Sun. “Tom and Ana had a good time together but their time as a couple has run its course,” a source told the British tabloid on Wednesday. “They are going to remain good friends but they aren’t dating anymore. They just realised they weren’t going to go the distance and that they are better off as mates.”
Cruise and de Armas were first linked this February when they were spotted having dinner in London the night before Valentine’s Day. In May, around the same time that dating rumors intensified and both actors just happened to be promoting their respective action movies, it was announced that the pair would be starring together in Deeper, an “undersea supernatural film.”
In August, Deeper reportedly hit a roadblock when Cruise and Warner Bros. couldn’t come to an agreement on the film’s budget. The project is reportedly on pause for now, but Cruise and de Armas are intent on maintaining their co-worker relationship. A source told the Daily Mail on Thursday that there is “no pettiness” about the breakup, and that they “ended up realizing that they should keep it professional because they weren’t able to figure it out as a couple and they wanted to save the future of their friendship and their movie.” These are two brave artistes putting their work above all else — bravo!

Should we scrutinize the fact that these two got together shortly before their big movie releases and split shortly after their joint project was put on hold? No, don’t worry about it. That is probably just a weird coincidence. Besides, this relationship gave us so many positives there’s no reason to dwell on the negatives.
