It’s time to celebrate the best television shows of the year at the 2025 Emmy Awards, streaming live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles (on CBS and stream on Paramount+.) And of course that means we get to see red-carpet looks from all the nominees, including Meghann Fahy, Jeremy Allen White and Jake Gyllenhaal. Make sure to check out our definitive list of every 2025 Emmys red-carpet outfit here, and scroll on to see the most talked-about looks of the night — from best to worst to weirdest.
Comedian Nate Bargatze is this year’s host, following in the footsteps of father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, who hosted last year’s ceremony. Below, our ranking.

Best Emmys Red-Carpet Looks
Jenna Ortega in Givenchy
It’s over! She’s taking it! Everyone else can go home now…
Selena Gomez in custom Louis Vuitton
This look is one we’ll be talking about for a long time. It’s striking, sexy, and the epitome of Hollywood glamour.
Molly Gordon
The night is young, but The Bear’s Molly Gordon is an early contender for best dressed. Her look is a master class in understated elegance.
Chloë Sevigny in Saint Laurent
How is it possible that this woman has been famous for nearly three decades and has yet to wear a bad outfit?
Aimee Lou Wood in Alexander McQueen
Lots of chic stuff happening here, from the silhouette of the dress to the two-toned detail to the light pink satin Stuart Weitzman pumps.
Hunter Schafer
Another fab pink moment!
Kristen Kish
It’s always nice when hot people also happen to dress well.
Angela Bassett in Yara Shoemaker
Angela Bassett brought good old fashioned glamour to the red carpet, and thank god for that! The deep side part is also great, especially with the simple drop earring.
Megan Stalter in Hanes and Levi’s
Meg Stalter, you are a STAR. Someone put it perfectly in The Cut’s comments section on Instagram: “We need a stronger word for mother.”
Walter Goggins in custom Louis Vuitton
I have a lot to say about this man, but I can’t say that he looks bad. So, best dressed it is!
Brittany Snow in Wiederhoeft
She’s having a moment right now, thanks to The Hunting Wives, and this is exactly the type of dress a girl who’s having a moment should wear.
Pedro Pascal
A double-breasted white tuxedo could have easily veered into costume territory but this looks sharp (although it would have been better without the glasses).
Alan Cumming in custom Tanner Fletcher
Alan Cumming wearing the Brooklyn-based campy label Tanner Fletcher makes so much sense. The oversize bowtie is exquisite.
Meghann Fahy in Valentino
The neckline, the slit, the long sleeves make this not your typical LBD.
Anna Sawai in Armani Privé and Cartier
It’s not her best look but still sophisticated and beautiful, as always.
Sarah Paulson in Prada
Mother is mothering, as they say.
Michelle Monaghan
Another successful red carpet risk. Good things happen when you don’t settle for a safe black dress!
Leslie Bibb in Armani Privé Couture
C*nty little bob final boss.
Javier Bardem
King behavior.
Colman Domingo in Valentino and Boucheron jewelry
At this point, no red carpet is complete without Colman Domingo. His outfits spark joy, he has fun with fashion, he makes the fact that I have to write this story on a Sunday enjoyable. Your favs could never…
Zanna Roberts Rassi in custom GapStudio by Zac Posen
Further proof that Zac Posen is flourishing as the creative director of Gap, Inc. — and that anything can be red-carpet-worthy with the right styling, even denim.
Justine Lupe in Carolina Herrera
This would definitely be more appropriate for the Grammys. But she didn’t play it safe and the sheer moment is on trend, so we’ll let it slide.
Zuri Hall in Elio Abou Fayssal
New favorite aesthetic unlocked: dipped in oil.
.
Worst Emmys Red-Carpet Looks
Haley Kalil in custom Marc Bouwer
Very hard to get past the hair; impossible, actually.
Parker Posey in custom Valentino
I have nothing nice to say about this.
Christopher Meloni
I don’t know what’s worse, the oil spill look or the excessive number of buttons.
Jenny Slate
The proportions here are really unfortunate. Why is the black dress awkwardly hitting her at the mid-thigh area and what is the purpose of that white tulle skirt?
Sydney Sweeney in Oscar de la Renta
I think this was meant to be a big swing for Sydney Sweeney, a real red carpet moment. But it’s the same old Hollywood bombshell thing she always does and, at this point, her red carpet looks are becoming predictable. Also, the fit is all wrong.
Lainey Wilson
Her red carpet looks continue to be upsetting, and I don’t get it. There is so much good western wear to choose from right now, so why are country singers dressing this bad?
.
Weirdest Emmys Red-Carpet Looks
Bronwyn Newport in vintage Mr. Blackwell Custom Couture
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s most eccentric snowflake dressed true to form tonight in sequins and feathers.
Joella
Yes, that is the self-proclaimed slaysian diva of Los Angeles (a.k.a Joella from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15) dressed as what appears to be a Labubu.
Elizabeth Banks
There’s a lot going on here and I’m not happy about any of it (least of all, the bump-it ponytail).
Nate Bargatze
We usually don’t include looks from the show itself in our red carpet roundups, but this Canadian tuxedo look deserved a dishonorable mention. One Cut staff member called it a “crime against humanity.”
