The Life of a Showgirl is coming soon to a movie theater near you. On Friday, Taylor Swift announced that her upcoming album, which comes out October 3, will debut with an event in movie theaters across the country. Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will apparently include the music video for the first song on the album, “The Fate of Ophelia,” behind-the-scenes footage, and lyric videos. Tickets for the event, which will be screening from October 3 to October 5, are available now … that is, if you have a little time on your hands — movie-theater websites are so overwhelmed by moviegoing Swifties that AMC has set up a virtual queue.

If the last installation in the Taylor Swift cinematic universe is any indication, the Showgirl watch parties are going to be quite the scene. When The Eras Tour hit movie theaters two years ago, fans turned it into a communal event, singing and dancing in the aisles and exchanging friendship bracelets. This time, Swift is encouraging fans to “brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan.” She added, “Dancing is optional but very much encouraged.” So, it sounds like we’ll get just as much Swiftie revelry, but this time with a showgirl flair. When else can you wear a feather boa and nipple pasties to your local AMC?
