If you’re not watching the 34th season of Dancing With the Stars for the showmances, then you should probably be tuning in for Robert Irwin. The 21-year-old son of famed crocodile hunter Steve Irwin is turning out to be this season’s No. 1 cutie (sorry, Dylan Efron). After his first performance last night, during which he leapt off a safari truck and bounded over his dance partner, Whitney Carson’s, head to the tune of “Born to Be Wild,” viewers are shocked, delighted, and publicly horny for the blond Australian. Suddenly, I’m struck with the urge to tune in again next week. Is this the hottest DWTS has ever been?
Until now, I knew DWTS as a show watched by moms nationwide. (Per the New York Times, the show’s audience had a median age of 63.5 in 2022.) But thanks to Irwin’s allure, hordes of vocal young women with TikTok accounts seem to be watching the new season. I wonder why? “He’s so hot and sexy,” one TikTok user captioned her post of Irwin competing. Another gaggle of girls filmed their live reactions to his dancing and immediately asked one another if the woman the camera panned to was his girlfriend — it was in fact his sister, Bindi, who won season 21.

It seems like DWTS fans aren’t the only ones waking up to Irwin’s allure. ABC ran Irwin’s viral Calvin Klein–esque underwear ad for the Australian brand Bonds from earlier this year in the middle of the episode. One TikTok user posted a clip of the commercial, declaring “CRIKEY” in all caps. Amen.
Irwin previously told People he’s “at this point in my life where I’m trying to do as many different and random exciting things” as he can, and it looks like vying for the DWTS mirrorball is one of them. Luck — and the votes of fangirls everywhere — will be on his side.
