Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have been doing a lot of sentimental press interviews to promote their new joint album, I Said I Love You First. Case in point: Gomez recently sat down with Chris Olsen on SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio IRL and revealed the trait Blanco has that’s most “addictive” that helped her finally get out of a creative rut — and no, it’s not his affinity for Taco Bell.
Gomez said she didn’t know where she wanted to go with her next album and was “so stuck musically,” but her fiancé helped guide her. “I knew I wanted to do one, but it was just so wonderful to have him on my team. Like, he did an incredible job, and I respect him so much, and he just has excellent taste,” she told Olsen. “Telling him my stories and him telling me about his past and his stories, it was really special, so we combined it and made an album.” The couple fittingly dropped the news of the album and their first single, “Scared of Loving You,” the night before Valentine’s Day.
As for what makes her fiancé an incredible co-worker, Gomez said, “It’s Benny’s confidence, you know? That kind of energy is so addictive to be around, and he just — I don’t know. I just love him, that’s all.” Fine! I’ll admit it. They’re cute.
The album debuted at No. 2 on the charts, meaning that a celebration is in order for the betrothed duo. But how will they mark this momentous occasion? My money’s on another bathtub filled with queso.
