It may still be the height of summer in Washington, D.C., but Melania Trump is already getting into the holiday spirit. The First Lady is gearing up to decorate the White House for her first Christmas there in four years, and she would like some help. On Monday, per tradition, the Trump administration opened applications for volunteers interested in decorating the White House for Christmas.
The White House Christmas décor is a tradition for First Ladies, but Melania is famously not so hot on that part of the job — in 2018, she was caught on tape complaining about her decorating responsibilities, saying, “Who gives a fuck about Christmas stuff and decorations?” Still, she does have a knack for memorable holiday décor. Will we get the tundral labyrinth of barren white branches she gave us in 2017? Or the ominous, blood-red Christmas trees of 2018? Or will she go a with a bland look, like she did in 2019 and 2020 after the public failed to understand her goth vision?

We’ll have to wait and see if we’ll get a return to spooky form this year. For anyone planning to apply, here are some décor ideas you might want to run by the First Lady: wreaths made of bones, vampiric gingerbread men, garlands made of haunted doll heads. Alternatively, Melania could check out the Nightmare Before Christmas section of her local Hot Topic for inspo.
