Death, taxes, and Stevie Nicks finding her way back to Lindsey Buckingham — some things in life are just inevitable. These two have spent half a century enmeshed in what could politely be called a “romantic entanglement.” More accurately, they’ve spent decades either gnawing at or trying to mend the invisible string that has bound them together for eternity. As of July 17, 2025, they’re back to mending.
On Thursday, the former Fleetwood Mac bandmates dropped coordinated Instagram posts that seemed to hint at some kind of reunion between the two. Nicks shared the handwritten line “And if you go forward…” with Buckingham completing the sentiment, writing, “I’ll meet you there.”

It seems that these two might be teasing new music and a rekindling of their professional relationship. The pair have not performed together since 2018, when they were honored at a MusiCares benefit show. Following the ceremony, Buckingham told Rolling Stone that famed music manager Irving Azoff had relayed to him that “Stevie never wants to be on a stage with you again.” This was apparently because Buckingham hadn’t been happy that the band’s intro song had been a recording of the “Rhiannon” (a song written and performed by Nicks) and that he had “smirked” during Nicks’s remarks. According to Buckingham, Nicks gave the rest of the band an ultimatum: her or him. They picked her, and Buckingham was out of the band (again).

But now we’re back, baby! Nicks had previously said she was uninterested in a Fleetwood Mac reunion following the death of Christine McVie in 2022, but she never said anything about a duet with her and Buckingham.
Lover girls, do not let this have any effect on your own situationship. These are two people who were put on this earth to spend decades loving and hating and making generation-defining rock songs about their untenable passion. You and that one ex you never totally stopped talking to are not the same thing. It is actually pretty easy for him to get away from the sound of the woman that loved him.
