Leighton Meester Speaks on Michelle Trachtenberg’s Death

by thenowvibe_admin

In February, Michelle Trachtenberg was found dead in her New York apartment as a result of diabetes complications. The actor, who is best known for her roles in Ice Princess, Harriet the Spy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Gossip Girl, was 39.

In the aftermath of her death, Trachtenberg’s former co-stars shared their memories of working with her, including in her role as Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl. Now, Leighton Meester, who played Blair Waldorf in the series, has publicly remembered her as well.

In an interview with Flaunt magazine published Tuesday, Meester spoke for the first time about Trachtenberg’s death, calling it a “devastating” loss.

“She was a wonderful, talented person, and everyone loved her,” Meester said. “It’s very, very sad for everyone who knew her.”

Meester spoke fondly of her time on the show and its cultural staying power over a decade after it ended. “Now, I can see that the show’s legacy continues — in some ways, even more so than back then — to live on, which is incredible,” she said.

Much of the former Gossip Girl cast paid tribute to Trachtenberg on social media following the news of her death. Blake Lively remembered her as “fiercely loyal to her friends and brave for those she loved,” while Chace Crawford said she was “unapologetically funny and magnetic.” Taylor Momsen posted a tribute on Instagram about her close-knit friendship with Trachtenberg, saying she felt “so grateful to have had a friend like you in my life for so long.”
