If you can believe it, one year ago yesterday, Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race. It may feel like we’ve lived a thousand lifetimes since then, but there’s one guy who is decidedly not over it. In a three-hour interview Monday with the YouTube series Channel 5, Hunter Biden laid into a bunch of people he blames for his dad’s political downfall and had particularly harsh words for George Clooney.
After Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump but before he left the race, Clooney wrote an op-ed for the New York Times calling for him to drop out. “Fuck him,” Hunter Biden told Channel 5 host Andrew Callaghan. “Fuck him and everybody around him. I don’t have to be fucking nice.” He added that he agrees “with Quentin Tarantino” that “fucking George Clooney is not a fucking actor,” he’s “a brand.”

Biden then rather sarcastically praised Clooney, saying he “supposedly treats his friends really well” and “buys them things” before continuing his expletive-laden tirade. “Fuck you! What do you have to do with fucking anything? Why do I have to fucking listen to you?” he said. “What right do you have to step on a man who’s given 52 years of his fucking life to the service of this country and decide that you, George Clooney, are going to take out basically a full-page ad in the fucking New York Times to undermine the president?” (The Cut has reached out to Clooney for comment.)

Well then! Hunter also claimed that his dad’s debate debacle was a result of having been given Ambien in order to sleep after traveling abroad to Europe. The former president returned from that trip on June 16, 2024, 11 days before the debate in question.
In addition to Clooney, Hunter went off on a bunch of other people in the interview, including Democratic strategists David Axelrod and James Carville, Jake Tapper, and the Pod Save America guys — one of whom seems to be having a good laugh about the whole thing. “It’s good to see that Hunter has taken some time to process the election, look inward, and hold himself accountable for how his family’s insular, dare I say arrogant at times, approach to politics led to this catastrophic outcome we’re all now living with,” host Tommy Vietor wrote in an X post.
