Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell really want you to know they’re not dating. They’ve even enlisted Powell’s mom — and judge of his look-alike contest — Cyndy Powell to give a tell-all to the Daily Mail dispelling the rumors once and for all.
Following the news of Sweeney’s split from her fiancé and her appearance at Powell’s sister’s wedding last week (weird timing, but I’ll let it slide), the rumors of their alleged romance have been reignited. But according to Cyndy, their undeniable chemistry has not blossomed into a relationship. “They’re definitely not together,” she told the outlet over the phone, adding that the speculation about their relationship was “silly.” Sweeney is just “really close friends” with the family, and there’s “nothing going on behind closed doors,” okay?
“He’s the kindest person and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend,” Cyndy continued. “They’ve been friends for so long. They’ve known each other for so long and they’ve both been single and together and with other people. They could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point. But he’s got so many friends that care about him and he cares about, and he’s got a really nice group of friends that they kind of take care of each other. It’s really nice.”
When asked if Sweeney and her son might become more than friends in the future, Cyndy said, “That is none of my business.” If only more mothers were like her. “I just want what’s best for everybody,” she continued. “I just want somebody that loves him unconditionally and he loves unconditionally, and they take care of each other and live happily ever after.” Could that someone be … his former co-star and the “easiest person to have chemistry with,” Sydney Sweeney? Still no. “We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend,” Cyndy said.
Besides, Cyndy said her beloved boy isn’t ready to find his happily ever after because he’s “just too busy right now.” Isn’t that what they all say?
