Last week, French media reported that Brigitte Bardot had been hospitalized for three weeks after undergoing surgery for a serious illness. Sources said the 91-year-old film icon was expected to be released from the hospital soon but called her condition “worrying.” Then celebrity-gossip influencer Aqababe (basically the French version of Deuxmoi) claimed Bardot had died, sparking widespread rumors. In a since-deleted post on X and Instagram, per the Daily Mail, Aqababe claimed to have “exclusive information” on Bardot’s alleged death, even purporting to know where her coffin had been ordered from.
Bardot, to be clear, is very much alive, and she’s understandably not happy about these rumors. On Wednesday, she wrote in an X post in French, “I don’t know who the idiot is who started this fake news about my disappearance this evening, but know that I am fine and that I have no intention of bowing out. A word to the wise.” Hopefully it’s not too late to cancel that coffin order?
