The first round of the U.S. Open is underway, and Ben Shelton isn’t letting a moment go by without reminding us he’s basically wifed up. I find this extremely endearing: If you ask me to name a WAG I can pull out a whole list; ask me to name a HAB (husband and boyfriend, and yes I did just make that up), and I’m far less likely to compile anything of substance, unless we’re talking about Shelton.
Ever since the 22-year-old tennis player hard-launched his relationship with USWNT soccer star Trinity Rodman in March, the couple have appeared to be inseparable. While Rodman has traveled to watch Shelton at his matches in between her own games this year, he’s taken the opportunity to shout her out, not letting anyone forget that his girlfriend is also a top performing athlete. After winning his first match at the 2025 U.S. Open on Sunday, Shelton told reporters: “My girlfriend took the red-eye from California last night to be here,” while smiling at the camera. Now that is HAB performance at its best.

Even Shelton’s hype-up compilation video features Rodman, who starts the transition into some of his best clips from his previous match. If his winning means more content to come from this Gen-Z-athlete power couple, I’m rooting for Shelton all the way.
