Apple Martin Says College Is ‘A Little Tense’ These Days

by thenowvibe_admin

Two months into Trump’s second term, many college campuses have become hotbeds of political strife. So how is Apple Martin — Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter, a recent debutante, and a junior at Vanderbilt University — holding up? Interview Magazine, where Martin was previously an intern, wants to know. In a new interview, editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg asked her about “the vibe of a 2025 college experience right now.” According to Martin, “it’s a little tense, but also people want to have fun.”

Despite noting that she shares “a lot of stories” about “politics” and “what’s going on” on her private Instagram, Martin did not offer more specifics — but she did imply that she and her friends are not feeling great about the new administration. “People, including myself, are very scared, but that also means that everyone’s coming together and talking about what’s going on,” she told Ottenberg. She added that she’s “honestly not very positive” about the rest of 2025.

So what else is Apple up to between all that political posting? Apparently she’s majoring in law, history, and society (“I cannot lie, I was like, I’ll just be Elle Woods. It’s a lot harder than it looks”), and also dabbling in the college theater scene. “I’m in the lovely Vanderbilt Original Cast, the esteemed cabaret group,” she said, adding that “this semester’s show is a musical parody of Love Island called Love on an Island.” While she did not directly address the mean-girl allegations, she did say, “I just try to do what feels right and block out anything regarding me in the news to the best of my ability.” Sounds like Gwyneth taught her well.
