Right now, Labubu dolls are everywhere, from Paris couture week to anti-ICE protests, and some of us are feeling afraid. At least one person is bravely speaking out against Hollywood’s favorite psyop: Romy Mars. Apparently, Mars, the daughter of Sofia Coppola and Phoenix front man Thomas Mars — you may recall her from getting-grounded-for-chartering-a-helicopter fame — has had enough of these bunny-eared monstrosities. At the Chanel couture show in Paris on Tuesday, she openly rejoiced that Labubus were nowhere to be seen.

While speaking impassionedly to a French fashion journalist, Mars said she was “so happy” not to see any Labubus at the show: “Those things look like they would tickle you in weird places and then run away giggling, and I don’t want them at Chanel.”

When asked what her beef with Labubus is, Mars said, “How do you think the Sonny Angels feel? They were the spotlight, and everyone loved the Sonny Angels, and then the Labubus came in and stole their thunder. And that’s not fair to them.”
You know what? She has a point. It’s not exactly the anti-Labubu reasoning I would choose, but the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Romy Mars, thank you for your courage.
