Following accusations that she’s been too horny on main, Sabrina Carpenter is dialing back her provocative album cover for her forthcoming album, Man’s Best Friend, and offering up a more palatable option. Carpenter announced the art change on social media, where she wrote, “I signed some copies of Man’s Best Friend for you guys & here is a new alternate cover approved by God available now on my website,” punctuated with a white-heart emoji.
The original art, which featured Carpenter on all fours stroking a man’s leg while he grabs her hair, received an overwhelming amount of backlash after it was released. Over in her Instagram comments, fans called it “disgusting” and “deeply irresponsible” and also described it as “insanely misogynistic imagery.” God forbid a girl take a sexy photo!

Instead of being on all fours for her new cover, Carpenter is standing up and clinging to a man with a sharp jawline at a fancy-looking gathering of … more men, shot in black-and-white. I personally think she should’ve taken a solo shot wearing a dog collar and puppy ears with zero men in sight, but they didn’t put me in charge of the album’s creative direction. Maybe next time.

While she’s appeased the haters, Carpenter didn’t actually swap out the old cover for the new one — her website still has vinyls for sale with the original image, so I’m guessing that the alternative option is offered for the young kids and older buzzkills who want something “approved by God” instead. Smart move.
Something tells me this isn’t the last time the general public will be weird about Sabrina Carpenter, but at least we can put the discourse surrounding her album-cover art to rest. That is, until her next single.
