On Thursday, King Charles was briefly hospitalized for what Buckingham Palace called “temporary side effects” from his ongoing cancer treatment. After spending part of the day in the hospital for medical observation, he returned home to Clarence House that evening, a spokesperson for the palace said, noting that the king’s engagements for Thursday and Friday had been postponed “as a precautionary measure.”
King Charles has been in outpatient treatment since early 2024, when the palace announced that he’d been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing a “corrective procedure” for a benign prostate enlargement. Following Thursday’s hospital trip, a source told the Guardian that the king’s medical complications are a “most minor bump in a road that is very much heading in the right direction.”
Surely, the king is chomping at the bit to get back in the game: Earlier this month, he scored a diplomatic win, hosting Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Buckingham Palace. In the coming weeks, he’s also expected to make a historic visit to Italy and attend a soil exhibition. Sounds exciting!
