On Monday night, Jacob Elordi stepped out at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. His little mustache was present, and so too was his on-again-off-again girlfriend Olivia Jade Giannulli. In an Instagram video posted by People, the 25-year-old was spotted at the very end of the red carpet waiting in the shadows with a pair of sunglasses on, patiently clutching her bag. In more of People’s footage, Elordi can be seen rushing past paparazzi and escorting the YouTuber and one-time rowing advocate up the steps, carrying the train of her dress. Hmmm, what could this mean?

Unless Giannulli has a secret passion for gothic-horror adaptations, it seems like she was on hand at TIFF to support Elordi — though in what capacity is unclear. These two were first linked in Los Angeles in December 2021, and in the four years since, the couple has been plagued by regular tabloid reports of breakups and makeups with the occasional yacht sighting thrown in. Last we’d heard, a source told Us Weekly in August that the pair had broken up after a “rocky” summer. Giannulli, apparently, “needed a change of scenery” and had moved to Paris, far far away from Elordi, for “a fresh start.”

I can respect a woman who puts boundaries in place to escape a man. But you know what’s key to successful boundaries? Enforcing them. Then again, I do like the theory that the woman once at the center of the Operation Varsity Blues scandal might just happen to be a horror buff. USC has a great film school, after all.
