Congratulations to Huma Abedin and Alex Soros, who got married this weekend in the Hamptons. The star-studded guest list included former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, Senator Chuck Schumer, Representative Hakeem Jeffries, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, and Anna Wintour. Boyz II Men also performed, according to the New York Times.
The 39-year-old heir to the George Soros fortune popped the question to the longtime Hillary Clinton aide last June, and the pair shared the news on social media. “This happened … we couldn’t be happier, more grateful, or more in love,” Soros and Abedin wrote in a joint Instagram. They had originally planned on eloping, but were convinced to throw a wedding during an engagement party co-hosted by Clinton in December. “At the end of the evening, one of the people making a toast said, ‘We’ve all decided this notion that you both had about eloping is nonsense, and you have to have a wedding,’” Abedin told Vogue. Someone apparently suggested June 14, and the date was set.

Abedin was the vice-chair of Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and served as her chief of staff. She was previously married to disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner, and filed for divorce in 2017 — the same year he was sentenced to 21 months in prison for sexting with a minor — after seven years of marriage.
June appears to be a popular month for billionaire weddings. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez will reportedly wed in a couple of weeks in Venice, Italy. They’ve apparently already reserved the city’s entire fleet of water taxis for their celebrity attendees so if you have a trip booked to the Italian city later this month, be prepared for some chaos.
